It’s getting COLD!!!

Why live in Florida? We recently had a buyer client that was getting an FHA loan. When a borrower gets an FHA mortgage, they can use it for a primary residence only.

The mortgage department called our perspective clients and asked them why they were moving to Florida and if this home would be their primary home. They answered the person on the phone; “Have you ever lived through a north state winter?” The person on the other line answered “no”. “Well”, my client answered, “if you had, you’d would know that that is a ridiculous question.”

The question is, why would anyone want to live in a beautiful, year round sunny area of the country. Brilliant white sandy beaches just a short walk or drive away, might be an incentive. Outdoor sports and golfing year round, might be a draw.

I guess the question would be, why not live in beautiful sunny Florida? Why would you want to be caught in a home up north (that’s what we floridians call it) in the dead of winter, snow so high you can’t get out your door, cold so severe you’re chances of frostbite very near.

Don’t get me wrong. I grew up in Pennsylvania. The countryside was absolutely stunning. Summer family drives up into the mountains for that crisp, fresh air were wonderfully memorable experiences. But the memory of the sounds early in the morning of my father crushing the snow under his feet, going to the car and scraping the snow and ice off his windshield, trying to get the motor to turn over again and again, were not quite as inviting.

Visiting the metropolitan cities up north are culturally inviting and educational adventures.

Everyone has different preferences and nobody is the same, but living comfortably all year long, dipping in the pool, having sunset walks along the beach anytime, this is for me and for anyone else that would like to come down to our Bradenton, Sarasota Florida area.
