Moving Experience

moving

After working in the real estate industry for over 21 years, helping so many people make a move and living in the same home for 23 years, we ourselves made a move. Even though we didn't move very far, still staying in Manatee County, it was still quite an experience. We designed and built our home and the children grew and grew out of the home. Then we were looking at a home with rooms that we never went into except to clean. It was time to downsize. And by downsizing, I mean purging 23 years of stuff that we had collected and maybe hadn't seen in years, as it was tucked away in all the … [Read more...]

Flood Insurance Update

FLOOD INSURANCE UPDATE 2014 You might say, why is Flood Insurance of importance to me if I don't live in a required flood insurance area? Flood Insurance

There is much discussion about the change that took place on October 1, 2013 in reference to Flood insurance rates. The Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act that was passed in 2012 had a goal of mending a more than $20 billion deficit in the National Flood Insurance Program. The bill calls for the removal of so-called subsidies that have kept rates low for older homes in high-risk areas built prior to accurate flood maps. Some of the rate increases took effect during this past year, which included a measure that drove premiums up to their full risk rate when a home was sold. Many … [Read more...]

Prepare to get a Mortgage

Prepare to Apply for Your Mortgage Loan Pre-Approval By David L. Parker Often I am asked, “What do I need to apply and is it the same for everyone?” Preparing to apply for credit has its basic standards. I have heard this said, too, “What do you mean you need that, my friend did not have to provide that when he applied.” Everyone’s circumstances are different and what you need may or may not be the same as your friend who recently applied for a mortgage loan, so be patient and understand that applying and providing documentation will be unique to your own personal set of … [Read more...]
